Take a payment with Tap to Pay
Take a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on your own phone. No card reader needed.
With Tap to Pay, the customer taps their card, phone or watch on the back of your phone in the ServFlo Tech app. The money goes to your business's Stripe account, and the invoice or deposit is marked paid as soon as Stripe confirms it.
You need: online payments set up with Stripe, the business address in Settings → Business, and Technicians can collect payment turned on. Phones: iPhone XS or newer on the latest iOS, or Android 13 or newer with NFC (developer options off). The button only shows on phones that can take a tap.
Take a payment
Open Collect payment
On the job, tap Collect payment. If the job has no invoice yet, tap Create the invoice.
Tap Tap to Pay
Tap to Pay is the first way to pay on the screen, and its button shows the amount due. Tap it. To take part of the balance, tap Change amount first.
The first time, ServFlo shows how Tap to Pay works, and your phone asks to use your location (Stripe needs it to keep card payments safe). On iPhone, the business owner accepts Apple's Tap to Pay terms once.
Let the customer tap
Your phone shows the payment sheet. The customer holds their card, phone or watch near the top of your phone until the check mark. If the card asks for a PIN, hand them the phone to type it.
Send a receipt
You see Paid $385.00 and the card used. Tap Text receipt or Email receipt, then Done.
If the card doesn't go through, the screen says why in plain words, for example Card was declined. Ask for another card or show the QR code. Nothing is charged; tap Try again or let the customer scan the QR code.
No signal
Tap to Pay needs signal. Without it, the screen shows the job's pay-later QR code instead: the customer scans it and pays once they're online. Cash and checks still work offline.
Take a quote deposit by card
On a quote the customer approved, enter the Deposit received and choose Tap to Pay (next to Cash and Check), then save. ServFlo saves the quote and opens Tap to Pay for the deposit. The deposit moves onto the invoice when the quote is invoiced.
Charge a saved card
When a customer saved a card (for example, for a membership) and your business allows it, Collect payment shows Card on file with Charge saved card. Ask the customer first, check the amount, then tap Charge $…. You see Paid or why it wasn't charged.
An owner or admin turns this on in Settings → Payments, under Tap to Pay: Let technicians charge saved cards. It's off by default. Office staff can always charge a saved card.
Refunds and fees
Tap to Pay payments are card payments like any other: refund them from the payment in the office (Refund), and Stripe's in-person card rate is billed to your business by Stripe. ServFlo adds no fee.
