How much does field service software cost in 2026?

Field service software for a small home-service business typically costs somewhere between about $50 and $500 a month in published plan prices, before payment processing and add-ons. Where you land depends less on the headline price than on how the vendor counts users: if technicians are counted, your bill grows with every hire. Larger platforms often don't publish prices at all and quote per technician.

Prices in this post were checked on each vendor's public pricing page in November 2026. Vendors change prices and plans; always confirm on their sites before you decide.

How is field service software priced?

There are four common models, and many vendors mix them.

  • Per user. You pay for each person with a login. Some vendors include a set number of users in each plan and charge for extras. The key question is whether technicians count as users.
  • Per technician. Common with larger platforms. Your bill scales with the size of your field team.
  • Feature tiers. Plans differ by what's included (online booking, automations, marketing, job costing) rather than only by headcount.
  • Quote-based. No public price. You talk to sales and get a custom quote, often with a contract term and onboarding fees.

None of these is wrong. But you can't compare two products until you translate both into "what would my team pay?"

What do published plans cost for real team sizes?

Below are three example businesses, priced on monthly billing with no commitment, from each vendor's public pricing page in November 2026. Annual billing is cheaper with all three vendors that publish prices.

The example businesses:

  • Solo: the owner, doing the work and the office.
  • Small crew: 4 technicians plus 1 person in the office (5 people).
  • Growing team: 10 technicians plus 3 office staff (13 people).

For per-user plans, these figures assume every technician has their own login to use the mobile app. Confirm with each vendor how they count users for your setup.

Jobber

Jobber publishes per-user tiers. Core is $49 a month for 1 user. Connect starts at $139 for 1 user, $199 for 5, $299 for 10 and $399 for 15. Grow starts at $199 for 1 user, $299 for 5, $399 for 10 and $499 for 15. Plus starts at $499 for 5 users. Extra users are $29 a month each. Add-ons listed include an AI Receptionist at $29, Pipeline at $49 and Marketing Suite at $99 a month.

  • Solo: $49 (Core), $139 (Connect) or $199 (Grow)
  • Small crew (5 users): $199 (Connect) or $299 (Grow)
  • Growing team (13 users): $386 on Connect (10 users at $299 plus 3 extra at $29) or $486 on Grow (10 users at $399 plus 3 extra at $29)

Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro publishes three plans. Basic is $79 a month with 1 user, Essentials is $189 with 5 users, and Max is $329 with 8 users and $35 a month for each additional user. Its pricing page lists add-ons such as CSR AI, Websites, Campaigns, Payroll and Tap to Pay without prices.

  • Solo: $79 (Basic)
  • Small crew (5 users): $189 (Essentials)
  • Growing team (13 users): $504 on Max (8 users at $329 plus 5 additional at $35). The page doesn't list a price for extra users on Essentials.

ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page describes per-technician pricing and three packages, Starter, Essentials and The Works, each with a "Request Pricing" button, plus separately sold Pro products. You'd need a quote for any of the three example businesses.

ServFlo

ServFlo publishes four plans and counts only office users. Technicians are unlimited on every plan. Core is $49 a month with 1 office user, Connect $129 with 2, Grow $249 with 3, and Pro $449 with 5. Extra office users are $35 a month each.

  • Solo: $49 (Core), $129 (Connect) or $249 (Grow)
  • Small crew (1 office user): $129 (Connect) or $249 (Grow), the same as solo, since technicians aren't counted
  • Growing team (3 office users): $164 on Connect (with 1 extra office user) or $249 on Grow

Plans aren't identical across vendors, so compare features, not just the price. Our side-by-side post, Jobber vs. ServiceTitan vs. Housecall Pro vs. ServFlo, covers what each includes.

What costs don't show on the pricing page?

The plan price is the start of your budget, not the end.

Payment processing

Every card and bank payment carries a processing fee, charged by the payment processor your software uses. As one reference point, Stripe's standard published US rates in November 2026 are 2.9% plus 30 cents for online card payments, 2.7% plus 5 cents for in-person card payments, and 0.8% for ACH bank debits, capped at $5. Your actual rates depend on the software and processor.

A worked example at those standard rates, for a $400 invoice:

  • Paid online by card: 2.9% of $400 is $11.60, plus 30 cents, so $11.90
  • Paid by bank (ACH): 0.8% of $400 is $3.20

On a $4,000 system replacement, the card fee is about $116 and the ACH fee hits the $5 cap. For a busy shop, processing can cost more each month than the software. Nudging large invoices toward bank payment is one of the easiest savings available.

Text messages

Many products include a monthly allowance of texts and charge for more. If you send appointment reminders and on-my-way texts to every customer, estimate your volume: jobs per month times messages per job.

Add-ons

Websites, AI phone answering, marketing tools, payroll and GPS tracking are often sold separately. Price the add-ons you'd actually use.

Phone systems

If you want calls tracked and linked to customers, there's usually a monthly fee plus per-minute usage.

Onboarding and contracts

Some vendors charge setup or training fees or require annual contracts. Ask directly: "Is there an onboarding fee? What's the minimum term? What happens to my data if I leave?"

Your own time

Setup takes time: importing customers, building your pricebook, training the team. A product that's cheaper but takes your crew twice as long to learn isn't cheaper.

How do you build a realistic budget?

  1. Count office users and technicians separately.
  2. Price each product you're considering for your team today and for the team you expect in two years.
  3. Add the add-ons you'd really use.
  4. Estimate monthly payment processing: average invoice, number of invoices, card versus bank mix.
  5. Estimate text volume.
  6. Ask about onboarding fees and contract terms.
  7. Compare the total against what you lose now to missed calls, slow invoices and admin hours.

Is cheaper software a false economy?

Sometimes. The cheapest plan may lack automatic reminders, online booking or accounting sync, which means more manual work. On the other hand, paying for an enterprise platform with features you'll never touch is just as wasteful. Our post on small-contractor versus enterprise software helps sort out what you actually need.

FAQ

Is there free field service software? Some products have free tiers or free apps with limits. They can work for a very small operation. Check the limits on users, jobs and payments, and what you'll pay once you outgrow them.

Is annual billing worth it? If you're confident in the product, annual billing usually saves money with vendors that offer it. Use the free trial and a month or two of monthly billing first if you're unsure.

Why don't some vendors publish prices? Larger platforms often tailor pricing to company size and the modules you choose. That can work for big operations, but it makes comparison harder. Ask for a written quote with every fee listed.

Do technicians count as users? It depends on the vendor. Jobber's plans are priced by the number of users, Housecall Pro's plans include a set number of users, ServiceTitan describes its pricing as per technician, and ServFlo doesn't count technicians at all. Ask each vendor exactly who counts as a user. This single difference often decides which product is cheaper for you.
