Change orders
Write a change order, send it to the customer to approve and sign, and see the contract, budget and billing update.
A change order changes the contract: work added (or taken out), its price, and how many working days it adds to the schedule.
Write it
On the project's Change orders tab, click New change order. Give it a title, add lines from your pricebook or type them, and set the schedule change in days. A line can be negative for a credit.
Send it
Click Send. The customer gets a text and email with a link, and sees it in their portal. They approve by typing their name and checking "I agree" (and can draw their signature), or decline it.
If they say yes in person
Click Record approval, type their name, and they can sign on your screen. If they said no, click Declined to keep it on file.
When a change order is approved
- The contract grows by its price change (or shrinks, for a credit).
- Each line's cost is added to the budget in its category.
- The project's target end moves by its schedule days.
- If the job is billed in progress invoices, the change order becomes a new line on the contract. You bill it on its own or with the final invoice. If the job is invoiced in one go, the change order is on that invoice.
An approved change order can't be changed. To correct one, write a new change order.
Your crew can start a change order from the app as a draft. Only the office sends it, unless you let the crew send in Settings → Projects.
